二十一世纪的北京将是一个更加开放的城市。入世贸、迎奥运……为北京迈向国际化大都市带来一股股强劲的东风。作为北京市民，投身“北京市民讲英语”活动，学讲英语，与国际来宾进行无障碍交流，是我们为入世贸、迎奥运所能做的实实在在的贡献。 这套教材适合于未学过英语，或虽学过一点儿英语但基本上不具备英语交际能力的普通市民和服务行业从业人员。通过学习本教材，能够进行简单的日常英语对话，或用英语提供基本的服务。 这套教材包括“市民英语”、“购物服务英语”、“娱乐服务英语”、“交通服务英语”、“餐饮服务英语”5个系列，每个系列分为（A）、（B）、（C）3册，每册教授100个基本句。这些句子以功能为主线分成不同的单元，每个单元下设若干课。每课里的“基本句”、“会话”、“词语表达”是其核心内容；“用法说明”对基本句子与词语的用法做了提示与说明；“句子活用”为基本句的灵活运用和扩展提供了替换词语，为使用者根据自己的需要运用基本句提供了范例；“说说看”、“动动脑”等内容可帮助使用者复习、巩固检测本课所学的主要内容。 这套教材的内容安排本着“急用先学”和“由浅入深”的原则，最基本和最简单的生活和服务用语放在（A）册；（B）册和（C）册不仅在难度上逐册递增，在内容上也更能满足复杂的实际生活和服务情景。另外，考虑到“北京市民讲英语”活动旨在提高全体市民总体英语水平，四个行业英语系列的（B）册和（C）册在教授服务用语的同时，也包括了一些作为普通市民必须掌握的日常用语。 这套教材以听说为主，注意实用，注重交际。 我们衷心希望，当一批批国际友人和运动健儿随着五环旗的升起聚在北京时，他们不要翻译也能感受到北京人的热情与好客，享受到宾至如归的服务。 |
